FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
New GTM Intelligence capability connects buyer research, buying committee dynamics, and discovery guidance in a single field-ready workspace
- Segment8 launches Buyer Personas, giving product marketing managers a six-category structured workspace to capture buyer research, model buying committee dynamics, and distribute field-ready guidance to sellers.
- B2B buying committees have become more complex, with more stakeholders, longer cycles, and buyers who arrive better informed than previous generations.
- Buyer Personas connect psychographic research, pain point analysis, buying committee modelling, and discovery guidance in a single workspace that sellers can access without asking the PMM.
- The module helps product marketing teams turn buyer research into practical field guidance for discovery, objection handling, stakeholder mapping, and sales preparation.
MANCHESTER, UK, February 7, 2025 — Segment8, the GTM Intelligence Platform for revenue teams competing in active markets, today announced the launch of Buyer Personas, a structured workspace for product marketing managers to capture buyer research, model buying committee dynamics, and deliver field-ready guidance to sellers preparing for customer conversations.
Buyer research in many organisations exists as a slide deck created for a planning cycle, sales kickoff, or annual enablement session. It may contain useful insight, but it often ages quickly and sits too far from the seller’s daily workflow. When a seller prepares for a call, they rarely have time to search through old research decks, campaign notes, persona documents, or message maps.
That operating model creates risk. Enterprise buying has become more complex. Significant B2B technology decisions now involve functional buyers, economic buyers, procurement, security, legal, finance, operations, technical evaluators, executive sponsors, and potential internal blockers. Each stakeholder brings different incentives, fears, pressures, and success measures into the deal.
Buyers also arrive with more context. They have read vendor websites, analyst comparisons, peer reviews, competitor content, and AI-generated summaries before the first conversation. They may already have a shortlist, a preferred direction, or a set of objections shaped by the market before a seller has had the chance to frame the problem.
Revenue teams need buyer intelligence that is current, structured, and usable at the point of preparation. A seller should be able to understand what a VP of Engineering cares about, how that differs from a VP of Operations, which stakeholder may raise a security concern, and what discovery questions will reveal whether the opportunity is real.
Segment8 Buyer Personas gives product marketing teams a workspace for that intelligence.
The module is organised around six categories: profile data, responsibilities and KPIs, pain points and buying triggers, communication preferences, discovery guidance, and buying committee modelling. PMMs can capture the functional role of each persona, the pressures that shape their decisions, the outcomes they are measured against, and the objections they are likely to raise during evaluation.
Personas can also include practical sales guidance: how to open discovery, which signals to listen for, what language is likely to resonate, which proof points may matter, and where a seller should take care. This turns persona work from a research exercise into a field asset.
"Across every go-to-market motion I've run, from construction technology to financial crime prevention to programmatic advertising, the buying committee was where deals were won or lost," said Kris Carter, Founder of Segment8. "It was also the surface the field was often least prepared for. The research had usually been done. The issue was access. It lived in a deck, a folder, or inside the PMM's head. Sellers need that intelligence in the 20 minutes before the call, not in a workshop three months earlier. Enterprise buying has become more complex, and AI is giving buyers more information faster. The field has to be better prepared."
The Buyer Personas module includes intelligence scoring across twelve dimensions, including communication readiness, pain point depth, objection strength, champion potential, buying committee influence, decision criteria, and discovery usefulness. This gives PMMs a structured view of which personas are field-ready and which require more research.
That matters because not all persona work carries the same operational value. A persona with clear responsibilities, decision criteria, objections, discovery prompts, and buying committee context is ready to support sales preparation. A persona with a job title and a few generic pain points may need further work before it can influence a live deal. Segment8 makes that distinction visible.
The buying committee model captures each stakeholder's role, influence level, key concerns, and recommended messaging approach. Sellers can see who may act as a champion, who may block progress, who controls budget, who carries technical risk, and who needs proof before supporting the decision. This helps the field prepare for the politics of the deal, not only the functional problem.
For product marketing teams, Buyer Personas provides a repeatable structure for turning research into enablement. PMMs can document the buyer’s motivations, map committee dynamics, connect pain points to messaging, and create practical discovery guidance in one place. The result is easier to maintain than a static deck and easier for the field to use.
For sellers, the module gives faster access to the buyer context they need before the first call. Instead of relying on memory, instinct, or ad hoc help from product marketing, they can open a field-ready persona and prepare around the stakeholder in front of them.
For sales leaders, Buyer Personas creates more consistency across the team. New sellers can prepare using the same buyer intelligence as experienced reps. Managers can reinforce discovery discipline around known pain points, buying triggers, and stakeholder concerns. Teams can reduce the gap between what the organisation knows about its buyers and what the field applies in conversation.
For founders and GTM operators, the module strengthens the connection between market understanding and revenue execution. Buyer research becomes part of the operating system rather than a periodic artefact. As the market changes, product marketing can update the persona record and distribute the current version through the same workspace.
Personas can be exported as PDF Profile Cards and distributed through Segment8 Playlists without requiring the recipient to have a Segment8 account. This makes it easier to share buyer intelligence with sellers, managers, partners, agencies, consultants, new hires, or external teams preparing for customer conversations.
The module launches as part of Segment8's founding product release alongside Competitive Battlecards and Messaging Frameworks. Together, these capabilities help revenue teams connect who they are selling to, who they are competing against, and what the field should say when the conversation begins.
"Buyer understanding should not depend on who remembers the deck," Carter added. "The field needs structured guidance on who the buyer is, what they care about, how the committee works, and what questions will reveal the shape of the deal. Buyer Personas gives that intelligence a proper home."
Buyer Personas is available to Segment8 subscribers as part of the GTM Intelligence Platform.
