1. Our Commitment to Accessibility
Segment8 is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for people of all abilities. We are continually improving the user experience for everyone and applying the relevant accessibility standards to ensure we provide equal access to all of our users. We believe that every GTM professional deserves access to powerful GTM tools, regardless of their abilities or the assistive technologies they use. Accessibility is not an afterthought at Segment8 - it is a core principle that guides our design and development decisions from the ground up.
2. Conformance Standards
Segment8 strives to conform to Level AA of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, published by the World Wide Web Web Accessibility Initiative (WAI) of the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible for people with disabilities and more user-friendly for everyone. WCAG 2.1 Level AA conformance means our platform meets success criteria related to perceivability, operability, understandability, and robustness. We also align with Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act and the European Accessibility Act where applicable.
3. Accessibility Features
Our platform includes numerous accessibility features designed to ensure a seamless experience for all users: (a) Keyboard Navigation: All interactive elements, forms, modals, and navigation menus are fully accessible via keyboard, allowing users to navigate without a mouse using Tab, Enter, Escape, and arrow keys. (b) Screen Reader Support: We provide semantic HTML markup, ARIA labels, landmarks, and live regions to ensure compatibility with popular screen readers including JAWS, NVDA, VoiceOver, and TalkBack. (c) Color Contrast: All text and interactive elements meet WCAG AA contrast ratios (minimum 4.5:1 for normal text, 3:1 for large text and UI components). (d) Resizable Text: Users can resize text up to 200% without loss of content or functionality. (e) Focus Indicators: Visible keyboard focus indicators clearly show which element is currently active. (f) Alternative Text: All meaningful images, icons, and visual content include descriptive alternative text for screen reader users. (g) Form Labels: All form inputs have associated labels and helpful error messages to guide users through data entry. (h) Skip Links: Skip navigation links allow keyboard and screen reader users to bypass repetitive content and navigate directly to main content areas.
4. Assistive Technology Compatibility
Segment8 has been tested with a variety of assistive technologies to ensure broad compatibility: (a) Screen Readers: JAWS (Windows), NVDA (Windows), VoiceOver (macOS/iOS), TalkBack (Android), and Narrator (Windows). (b) Screen Magnification: ZoomText, Windows Magnifier, macOS Zoom, and browser-based zoom functions. (c) Voice Recognition: Dragon NaturallySpeaking and built-in voice control systems. (d) Switch Access: Support for single-switch and multi-switch input devices. (e) Keyboard-Only Navigation: Full functionality available without a mouse or pointing device. While we strive for maximum compatibility, we acknowledge that not all assistive technology combinations have been tested. If you encounter issues with a specific assistive technology, please contact us.
5. Third-Party Content and Services
Segment8 integrates with various third-party services and may link to external websites or embed external content. While we make reasonable efforts to select accessible third-party services, we cannot guarantee that all third-party content meets the same accessibility standards as our core platform. Third-party services that we integrate with include: (a) Authentication providers (Google OAuth, etc.). (b) Payment processing (Stripe). (c) Analytics and monitoring services. (d) AI and language processing APIs. We work with our third-party vendors to encourage accessibility improvements and will consider accessibility as a factor when evaluating new integrations.
6. Known Limitations
Despite our best efforts, there may be some limitations to the accessibility of certain features on our platform. We are transparent about these known issues and are actively working to address them: (a) Complex Data Visualizations: Some advanced charts and graphs may have limited screen reader accessibility. We provide data tables as alternatives where possible. (b) PDF Exports: Dynamically generated PDF files may not be fully accessible. We are working on improving the accessibility of exported documents. (c) Legacy Features: Some older features built before our comprehensive accessibility review may not fully meet WCAG AA standards. These are being remediated in our ongoing accessibility roadmap. (d) Real-Time Collaboration: Live collaborative editing features may present challenges for some assistive technologies. We are exploring solutions to improve this experience. If you encounter any accessibility barriers not listed here, please report them to us so we can address them.
7. Testing and Validation
Segment8 employs multiple methods to ensure and maintain accessibility compliance: (a) Automated Testing: We use automated accessibility testing tools in our development pipeline to catch common issues early. (b) Manual Testing: Our QA team performs manual accessibility testing using keyboard navigation and screen readers on new features and updates. (c) User Testing: We conduct usability testing with people who use assistive technologies to identify real-world accessibility challenges. (d) Code Reviews: Accessibility considerations are part of our code review process for all frontend changes. (e) Third-Party Audits: We engage external accessibility experts to conduct periodic audits of our platform and provide recommendations for improvement. (f) Continuous Monitoring: We monitor user feedback and analytics to identify potential accessibility issues in production.
8. Training and Awareness
Accessibility is a team effort at Segment8. We invest in training and awareness to ensure our entire team understands and prioritizes accessibility: (a) Developer Training: Our engineering team receives regular training on accessible coding practices, ARIA specifications, and assistive technology usage. (b) Design Training: Our designers learn about accessible color palettes, typography, layout patterns, and inclusive design principles. (c) Content Training: Content creators are trained on writing accessible content, including clear language, descriptive link text, and proper heading hierarchies. (d) Company-Wide Awareness: All team members participate in accessibility awareness sessions to foster a culture of inclusion and empathy for users of all abilities.
9. Feedback and Continuous Improvement
Accessibility is an ongoing journey, not a destination. We are committed to continuous improvement and welcome feedback from our users: (a) Regular Updates: We regularly review and update our platform to improve accessibility, incorporating new standards and best practices as they emerge. (b) User Feedback Loop: We actively solicit feedback from users with disabilities to understand their experiences and identify areas for improvement. (c) Accessibility Roadmap: We maintain a public-facing roadmap of accessibility improvements we are working on, updated quarterly. (d) Transparent Communication: We communicate openly about accessibility challenges we face and the steps we are taking to address them.
